Missionshifter is calling it quitsOur last and final show is Saturday, June 25 @ the Artspace in Gloucester with Tomorrow the Gallows (jeff boxingwater), Attackula (paul boxingwater), Wiley Riley (and the Clam Smakin' Action) and (maybe) Pink Razors (from VA). That's all folks. From MattYeah it's a bit of a bummer, but not entirely a bad thing. We've been debating this for about a year or so. There was no big fight, no one hates each other, no drama. As a band we're just stagnant. We talked about a hiatus, but speaking for myself, I can't deal with a hiatus. To me I'll just keep looking forward to the next practice that may not come and I can't deal with waiting indefinitely. I love Missionshifter musically and personally, we've been tight friends for 10 years, starting before the band and will go on after. Maybe we'll realize in the future that we want to continue playing as a band, but I'd rather just cut it clean and keep moving forward. I really can't speak for anyone else in the band, I love playing with those guys, just don't want to play if it's a chore for any of us. So we've got our last show that's gonna be at the Artspace on June 25th. Should be a great time!!! Hope to see lots of friends there. For a lot of you it'll be your first time seeing Jeff Rowe play with us. I personally think it's the best we've ever sounded so I hope you can make it out. From newtPlaying with the 'shifter has been awesome, i love the new songs we're working on, love playing all ages shows and our tour last summer was a blast. On the other hand - playing dive bars is tiresome and i don't want to kiss some ass to get a gig at the middle east, i think most of us avoid playing "the game" that is required to get into those places.. Sooo that leaves the band destined to play the Elks Lodge for another 20 years. The overall factor in this is that i'm a different person now than i was 10 years ago when i was 17 and priorities can change. Shit, i thought i'd be listening to slayer for the rest of my life and now i listen to jazz. who'd a thunk it? change is good. So to sum up this ramble - i've had such a good time w/ this band and all the bands we play with (seriously - wiley and skexies) and i'm not sure how the above reads but just to make it clear as mud - i've got no hard feelings towards anyone, no bitterness, nada, only good memories. |
